Choosing where to stay on the Cinque Terre could prove to be a bit challenging. However, with the right guidance and when you know what you want, it should be easy enough. If you’ve decided to stay in the southernmost village, I will help you choose the best place to stay in Riomaggiore.
I also chose to stay in Riomaggiore on my trip to the Cinque Terre and I can say I was really happy with my choice.
In today’s guide, I will include some of the best accommodation options in Riomaggiore, for any budget, so that you can choose the perfect place for your vacation.
It is worth knowing that in the Cinque Terre you won’t find many hotel options, but you still should expect comfort and great conditions.
While I obviously couldn’t have stayed in all of the selected places, rest assured that when choosing them I went through the same process I normally go through when I choose my hotels.
I always look for the best location, carefully analyze all the reviews left by former guests, and I also try to keep the budget under control. Also, I would always go for a place with a stunning view, and in Riomaggiore, it would be a pity not to do that.

Why should you choose to stay in Riomaggiore
To be honest, we chose Riomaggiore because this is where we found the most appropriate accommodation options based on our needs and all the factors we took into consideration.
As I did the research for the trip, I noticed Riomaggiore was a bit underrated. This was going to be obvious as we arrived on location. Especially as night fell, there weren’t many people around town.
While I loved Manarola or Vernazza, they tend to be extremely popular with tourists, and that means that even outside of the peak season there will be crowds.
Riomaggiore was tranquil, colorful, offered many accommodation options for someone traveling on a budget, and has a few Michelin star restaurants. On top of that, if you travel by car, Riomaggiore has parking spaces for non-residents.
On top of that, the town is perfectly linked to all the others by train. It is the first town when you’re coming from La Spezia or the last one as you travel from Levanto.
In the center, you’ll find plenty of pretty coffee shops, a pasticceria serving delicious local sweets, and some restaurants you won’t want to miss.

I really loved sitting at a terrace with a coffee in hand and watching old ladies go about their daily lives, gossiping or sharing valuable information on a laid-back afternoon.
The apartment we chose to stay in Riomaggiore
We chose to stay at Cinque Terre D’Amare, an apartment hosted in one of the highest buildings in Riomaggiore.
Since we were a group of 3, the two-bedroom apartment was perfect for us, since it had 2 beds, one bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, and a nice small balcony.
The only disadvantage of this place, if you are traveling with someone who has difficulties in climbing stairs, is the distance from the city center and train station. In order to get to the main street in town, you would need to go down a steep road. However, if you are fit and don’t have a problem with that (especially after a delicious dinner in the harbor), some exercise is always welcomed.
Another advantage of this place is the fact that you get an entire apartment all to yourself. Additionally, it offers that view I am always looking for, and you can always start your day with a coffee on the balcony, and end it with a glass of wine.
It is perfect for a longer stay because you have a kitchen and also a washing machine in the bathroom.
The apartment can accommodate up to 6 persons and the bedroom is very spacious and has a big bed, while the living room has a big and comfortable sofa bed.
The apartment is bright and you can access the terrace from both rooms, making it convenient when someone else sleeps in the room next door.

Choose this place if you don’t want to climb lots of stairs and want to be in the center of it all.
While you won’t get luxury accommodation at this hotel, it is one of the few (if not the only) hotel in Riomaggiore.
Former guests have appreciated the great view you get from the terrace, the fact that the hotel is really close to the city center, and the delicious Italian breakfast.
You can choose between double rooms, triple rooms, a studio for 4 people, a two-bedroom apartment, or a three-bedroom apartment.

You might not get a view from this place, but you will be at the heart of the city, close to the railway station, and to all of the main attractions in town.
On top of that, you will get to stay in a new and modern apartment, newly furnished.
The waterfront location, the terrace with a view, and the personal touches such as complimentary wine, made the difference for other guests.

Cà Vivaldi penthouse 5terreparco

For when you want to spend time under the sun.
The strongest point for this property is its beautiful and spacious terrace. It not only offers breathtaking views, but it is also the place where you will spend most of your time during your stay in Riomaggiore.
The apartment is very well equipped for a longer vacation, the supermarket is steps away, and you won’t have to go far to find restaurants and cafes.
Located close to the train station, you won’t have too much of a climb to get to the apartment, however, the stairs are narrow and steep.
The perfect option for someone traveling with a larger group of friends or family, you get 2 big bedrooms, a decent living room, plus kitchen, bathroom, small back patio & big front patio upstairs.
Affittacamere Le Giare

For those that prefer B&B’s
You might not want to stay in this place if you don’t feel like climbing a slope to get there, however, everything else will make up for that. It is also worth knowing that the property has a “disability-friendly” room option you can book.
The host has always gone above and beyond to make its guests’ stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, rooms are nice and clean. And when you choose to stay in a room with a balcony, you will be rewarded with one of the best views in Riomaggiore.
What I particularly loved about this place while going through the reviews was the fact that they encourage recycling and even have separate bins for plastic and paper. On top of that, all the toiletries provided are very eco-friendly.
5 Terre For You

Accommodation in Riomaggiore for those who want to be away from the crowds.
By booking this place you will have a whole holiday house all to yourself. While the place is not too big, with one bedroom and one living room, the main draw point is the terraces with sea and city view.
There is a nice seating area to enjoy a sundowner overlooking the city and a beautiful upper terrasse with an endless sea view. The house also has an outdoor shower, a tennis table, and darts for when you travel with your family and spend longer in Riomaggiore.
The house comes with a fully equipped kitchen, including a dishwasher and cutlery. Barbara, the host, can help you with parking and a luggage shuttle when you travel by train.
While you won’t be in the heart of Riomaggiore, that would mean you can enjoy a quiet and secluded vacation. However, the main street of the city is within walking distance, together with its restaurants, bars, and supermarkets.
